"FULLY PERSUADED”
  By Pastor Patrick Hammond

TEXT:
As it is written: “’I have made you a father of many nations.’ He is our father in the sight of God, in whom he believed—the God who gives life to the dead and calls into being things that were not. Against all hope, Abraham in hope believed and so became the father of many nations, just as it had been said to him, ‘So shall your offspring be.’ Without weakening in his faith, he faced the fact that his body was as good as dead—since he was about a hundred years old—and that Sarah’s womb was also dead. Yet he did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God, but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God, being fully persuaded that God had power to do what he had promised.” (Romans 4:16-21)

INTRODUCTION:
To be fully persuaded is to be confident that no matter what things look like, you know that God can and will do what He said He will do.

Definitions
1)  Fully: To the greatest degree or extent; completely or entirely; sufficiently; more than
      adequately
2)  Persuaded: Win approval or support for; cause somebody to adopt a certain position, belief,
      or course of action

     I.   Being fully persuaded means regardless to how you feel God’s word is true. v18

God is not moved by how we feel, He’s moved by the faith we have in his WORD.
           (Hebrew 11:6)

“All Scripture is God-breathed” (2nd Timothy 3:16)

If you can’t trust anything else you can trust that God’s WORD is true
(People have asked me how I know the Bible is true)

“Sanctify them with the truth; your WORD is TRUTH.” (John 17:15-17)

God’s oaths and promises are irrevocable (Hebrew 6:13:18)

II.   Being fully persuaded means your situations do not dictate your outcomes. v19

Your situation, the problems you face has no power over the purpose and plans God has for your life.

God will not always remove the problem, but He will change your perspective or
                    perception. (1 Corinthians 10:13)

The thorn in Paul’s flesh (2 Corinthians 12:7-10)

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who
have been called according to his purpose.”
(Romans 8:28)

III.  Being fully persuaded means your focus is on your promise and not your problem. v20a

Some people focus so much on their problem that the problem overtakes them and
becomes the topic of all of their conversations.

How do we stay committed to what God has promised without wavering or giving up?

Focusing on God’s purposes and plans puts us in direct line for receiving our
                     wants and needs. (Matthew 6:33)

Giving up is not an option. (Galatians 6:9)

What you talk about consistently and continually is where you end up.

To stay focused you must have faith and confidence that God will do what He said
                     he will do.  (Hebrews 10:35-36)

IV.   Being fully persuaded means you can praise God in advance for your promise. v20b

1Thessalonians 5:17

             Psalm 100:1-5

Paul and Silas praised God before they were freed from jail. (Acts 16:16-32)

CONCLUSION:Being fully persuaded doesn’t come by what you have done, or necessarily by what you know. Being fully persuaded takes place in your when you come face to face with the fact the God’s Word is true, and He cannot lie.
